Biography

Laurence M. McMillan, Jr. graduated, with honors, from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 1987 where he was a member of the Tennessee Law Review. Mr. McMillan began his law practice in Nashville, Tennessee with the law office of Barnett and Alagia in 1987 prior to returning to his hometown of Clarksville, Tennessee in 1992 to join the firm of Cunningham, Mitchell, Hicks, and McMillan. 

Mr. McMillan served as Chancellor for the 19th Judicial District (Montgomery and Robetson Counties) from January 1, 2005 through August 31, 2022, where he presided over contract, probate, construction, property, domestic relations, and administrative appeals cases. He was certified as a civil trial specialist in 2001 by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Mr. McMillan has served as a Special Judge on the Tennessee Court of Appeals, as well as the Fourth Circuit Court for Davidson County, Tennessee. Mr. McMillan is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee, as well as all State of Tennessee trial and appellate courts. He is a Fellow of the Tennessee Bar Foundation.  

Mr. McMillan’s area of practice is general civil litigation. He handles contract, property, probate, and business disputes as well as personal injury and domestic relations cases. Mr. McMillan also offers mediation services on all matters involving civil disputes.
